Do not treat migration as an endpoint swap only
Changing a webhook URL is the easy part. A safe migration also inventories alert sources, routing rules, team ownership, schedules, overrides, escalation timing, notification channels and deduplication keys. That inventory becomes both the migration plan and the acceptance checklist.
Run the two systems in parallel for a defined period. Compare which incidents were created, who was notified, how quickly acknowledgement arrived and whether recovery events closed the correct incident.
What to validate before cutover
Use representative alerts rather than a single generic test. Include create, acknowledge, close and recovery flows; P1 through P5 priorities; duplicate events; off-hours schedules; failed primary responders; and every notification channel your team depends on.
- Ownership and escalation order match the source configuration.
- Payload fields, priorities, tags and deduplication keys map as expected.
- Voice, SMS, email and chat notifications reach the intended responders.
- Runbooks and dashboard links survive payload transformation.
- Historical data is exported before Atlassian removes access.

Five steps to move without losing alerts

Inventory the current Opsgenie account
Export teams, schedules, escalation policies, integrations, routing rules and recent notification volume. Assign an owner to every item.

Recreate the response model in MonoDuty
Build services, responders, schedules and escalation policies first. Verify time zones, rotations and overrides with the people who carry the pager.

Connect non-production alert sources
Point test integrations to the MonoDuty webhook or Events API. Validate event field mapping, priority, deduplication and recovery behavior.

Run both systems in parallel
Duplicate representative production alerts for a controlled window, compare outcomes and record gaps before changing the primary route.

Cut over, monitor and retain the export
Move alert sources in batches, monitor missed or duplicate notifications, then archive the configuration and historical export according to your retention policy.
